Video – Polished Stone

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

I believe that I have officially entered the video age!

(Click on thumbnails for bigger detail)

Always Polished Stone BackgroundAlways Polished Stone detailPolished Stone Close UpThis technique is an ‘oldie’ called Polished Stone that I have seen less and less these days, so I dusted it off and shared it at my ‘Technique Freak’ club in January.

Polished stone is a technique that is better ‘shown than described’ so I present to you my first ever video (actually made back in January) that is being published after a lot of tears, blood (and ooops, maybe some mild swearing).

Details on materials:  91% Rubbing Alcohol, dye re-inkers, glossy cardstock, gold embossing powder, Versamark pad, Always stamp set (#113620), and the background stamp is Gratituitous Graffiti (#111636). Read More→

Bella Birds Designer Series Paper

I had to make one of these awesome Stationery Boxes after seeing Jackie Topa’s template and then getting one finished in a WOW swap that I hosted, well,  sealed the deal!

I made this entirely with the Friends 24/7 set and the color combination of Bordering Blue, So Saffron, Close to Cocoa and Very Vanilla… that color scheme was inspired by the Bella Birds Designer Series paper (#113981, $9.95, see paper sampler below).

Philadelphia, PA Scrap & Stamp Classes!

Monday, April 13th, 2009

Are you near Philadelphia, PA?  This Friday, Saturday & Sunday, I will be in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, at the Sheridon Town Center,  ScrappingGetaways.com Scrapbooking Weekend event as a vendor and offering my signature ‘Scrapbooking for the Attention Deficit Adult” classes (i.e., flip books, 6×6 albums… basically things that you can finish in 1 – 1 1/2 hours… before you get bored with it). My classes are ‘on demand’ (at your convenience) all weekend, so you can just walk in and take them as well as shop with other fine local scrapping vendors.

Flip Book Class

If you can stay for the weekend (register and reserve a table for the weekend or a day) you’ll have a fabulous time.  It is the happiest bunch of gals I have ever been around!  I am working 10am-10pm Friday, Saturday & Sunday (not including breaks)… and you can feel free to reserve your intention to take a class HERE (or you can surprise me and show up).

I also have other make & takes available to do if you just want to visit me and stamp… I will have a cute Mother’s Day project to do and always one free make & take.  Mention this blog post for a FREE gift from me!!!  I’d love to see you!

If you can’t make it, you can see my online tutorial for the Flip Book here.

Hope Illuminated

Hope Illuminated

I’m having a little fun with the Illuminations set and the ‘To The Nines’ Specialty Designer Series paper (#114038, $11.95).  These papers are a heavier weight and are textured as well.  I’ll share my ‘Thank You’ one next…

hopedetail-2

The “H” in Hope and some of the flourishes were highlighted with Crystal Effects for a glassy 3D look.

The colors are Sahara Sand, Sage Shadow and Close to Cocoa.  The ink was Chocolate Chip (because I wanted a very dark focal image).

I have included a sample of the “To The Nines’ Designer series paper.  Aren’t the designs and textures awesome?!

To the Nines DSPI actually don’t like how these photos came out and am very disappointed in my too quick decision to purchase a new camera.  I bought an inexpensive Cannon and if I lighten these photos, I will lose detail.

As many of you know, everything electronic has turned against me in the last month and almost everything I own (camera, video camera, scanner and even my computer) had to be replaced.

Thankfully my computer backs up every night to an external hard drive (using Acronis True Image) so I just had to go out and get a new computer and restored it completely (took many hours, but I lost nothing). It was the smartest $50 purchase I ever made.  Vista on the other hand doesn’t play nice with my older peripherals and my decision to go Windows 64bit lost me some applications and older hardware (ex., my old scanner).  Go to Costco and purchase a cheap 500G hard drive and get Acronis and you are set in case of a hard drive failure.  Set it up to backup at 2am every night and you are good to go.

So, it appears that if it were not for bad luck, I would have no luck at all.  BTW, if you *ever* see me in line at the supermarket, quickly get off my line! It may look faster, but I have a second sense about getting on the line that takes the longest… something will go wrong and I will be waiting long after everyone is gone… and you’ll be waiting after me!
