Home for Christmas

What a fabulous stamp set… and I LOVE the Designer Series paper "Ski Slope" (which is the background ‘stars’ as well as the 1 1/2 inch decorated stripe that I cut off of an elaborate stripe pattern paper.

paper saving trick:

paper saving trick to a layered cardI learned this trick working in a stamp store years ago. The stamp companies sell you samples for display, and one day (to figure out how they were made), I pulled a few apart and saw that no paper was wasted where it wasn’t seen.  Not a bad idea I thought!

I love the DSP stripe paper (left)  the *most* in that pack so I saved it using two 1 1/2 inch long strips, instead of one 5 1/4 inch strip (which would waste a lot of 12 x 12 paper).

Okay, am I the master of cheap or what?!!!  Feel free to be honest!

Not cheap…my grandmother would have called you “frugal” and meant it as a compliment LOL! Great card, Amy.

What a beautiful card Amy! Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

Thanks for the tip too! I never would have thought to do that…which is weird, because I do stuff like that when I scrapbook all the time – duh!

    Happy Stampin’~

It is such a relief to see I’m not the only one who conserves paper by doing this!

Wonderful use of scraps… I have “several” scrap boxes I do the very same thing.. just grab bits and pieces… and save all those pretty DP scraps, punching out little stars and flowers for use later!! Recycle!!!

Thanks, Amy, for showing this. Everyone jokes around that I’m a cheap stamper because I always pick up their scraps. Well one day I brought about 10 cards in made from what they had thrown away. Not so much laughing then…everyone started picking up their scraps to take home. Use up those paper scraps and have more money for new stamps! Yea, baby!

i’m all about saving scraps, to the point that it’s becoming a bit cumbersome. however, when i am putting together cards for a stampastack and i don’t have to cut new stock because i can use up what i’ve saved, i’m stoked! you’re not cheap, but frugal.

i’m with you about the ski slope dsp–it’s fabulous, that pattern in particular.

    nice card…

Wow brilliant idea! I always hate using so much paper that isn’t going to be seen now I know that I don’t have to! Thanks!
