Last month I received a gift of a lovely butterfly paper pin and scalloped circle book from Kelli Purkey and I just *HAD* to make that butterfly myself.
I completely devoured every detail of her finished pin… the butterfly from God’s Beauty (Level 1 Hostess Set) complete with rhinestone and wire embellishments on a pale plum cardstock (see below).
I decided to make my butterfly look like a ‘monarch’ butterfly and my daughter came down and picked up Kelli’s (purple butterfly, see below) and said “MOM! This is awesome, did you make it?!” to which I replied, “no, I made ALL the other ones… oh, go clean your room!”
So, you can see how beautiful Kelli’s pin is right down to the twisted wire antennae with rhinestones set (yeah, thanks Kelli… I’ll never get the Crystal Effects off my fingers!).
Enjoy the video that I made in ‘real time’… you are seeing the actual process as I was coming up with my May ‘Technique Freak’ club project for tonight (nothing like the last minute). The video was shot with my new Sony Handycam and edited with Sony Vegas Studio Pro (which I taught myself yesterday)!

I have a tip for you, I noticed you fumbling with the two Stazon lids. Take a large glue dot and stick it in the middle inside the black lid, while the clear lid is covering the pad, cover the pad with the lid. Next time you open your Stazon both will come off at the same time!

Hi Amy. How clever are you? These are absolutely stunning and sooooo inspiring. One question. When you say “paper”, do you actually stamp on paper or card. I know you do 3 layers and I am thinking that 3 layers of card may be too thick, but I just wanted to make sure that it is paper that you stamping on and making 3 layers out of, before I TRY this….. Thanks so much.

Yes, if you watch the video, I am glueing three layers of cardstock together with ModPodge. It dries thinner than you’d think! Good luck.
Hi Amy. I have tried everything to get this video to play and it only plays to just before half way through. You are just curling the roses, and it goes off. I have tried the link to your video page, too, and it goes off exactly in the same spot. Just wondered if someone out there can help. My butterflies are dry and they are shouting at me to finish them…..but I have no idea what the next step is. Thank you.
