This adorable mini valentine idea was inspired by a swap from Leadership that held a pack of ‘Smarties’ candy on the side… I decided it would make a great valentine with Happy Heart Day.
I stamped the Elephant and flowers and then stamped the elephant again on our Designer Series paper "Flowers for You" (the pink on pink florals)… don’t you just love pink elepants (don’t you see them all the time too?)! I placed the ‘pink floral’ elephant image over the original stamped image and ‘waa laa’ he is immediately super cool!
Closed, this is only 3 1/2 inches square and you can get three of these from one piece of cardstock. This is one of three valentine ideas that we made at my Stamp a Stack of Stuff this past week. You can purchase step by step, measurements and photos of this (and all of the six projects I featured here).
I sell my class outlines with measurements and directions due to demand for more and more information about the samples I post. However, I am more about the free dissemination of stamping ideas–so I will share more information about this here for those of you who will ‘get it’ as I tell it…
The pink background is 6 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches, scored at 2 1/2, 3, 3 1/2. The smaller panel is actually the front and you use the slit punch on the back panel and tuck the front panel in to hold it closed. I attached a knotted bow to the slit, but below shows it with a punched flower and brad that also can hide the slit side well.
A trick to punching the side openings–fold the paper in half by the ‘middle’ score and punch with the horizontal slot punch (see photos below for help):
This last photo (left) shows a flower adhered to the slit punched tab that aids in keeping it closed… and yes, you have to glue to ‘Smarties’ in or they will slip out!

Tootsie Rolls, some types of taffy… I personally love smarties. BTW, I can make one of these in 5 minutes (or 3 smarties candies)
