Easter Blossoms Card

Can you believe that I didn’t really like this set the first time I saw it? Well, I got over that!

This simple geometrical layering and side tied bow make a faster card than you think. Cut a bunch of the layers and you can put together 10 of these pretty quickly!

This set, Easter Blossoms, from Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Mini Catalog is available through April 30th.

Good Cheer Paper Bag Gift Keeper

I’d say that this paper lunch bag never looked so good!

I love the ‘rustic’ colors in the ‘Deck the Halls’ designer series paper and have used them in the color scheme of this easy ‘paper bag’ gift bag.

I have included a short photo step-by-step of how this bag was made (click images for larger view):

Cut the paper down to 5 3/4 inches high. Line the back of the paper bag with a 5 inch by 8 inch piece of Artichoke cardstock, scored at 6 inches
Line the front of the bag with a 6 x 5 inch piece of Artichoke cardstock
Adhere a 4 3/4 x 5 3/4 piece of designer paper to the front artichoke panel and punch half a jumbo circle
Adhere a 5 3/4 and 2 1/4 piece of designer paper to the top panel and wind a 20 inch piece of hemp around the top and tie a knot
Adhere the central image as shown. Use Sticky Strip to adhere it, since it will take some abuse (opening and closing). If you want the bag to stay shut, you can use Velcro dots.

Central Image: I didn’t want the focal image to be too ‘white’ but I did need Santa to stand out.

Stamp the image on both Vanilla and on Crumb Cake.
Trim the Crumb Cake image around the holly (leaving at least 1/8th inch).
On the Vanilla image, color and cut out Santa and the reindeer. Ahere Santa to the Crumb Cake image right over the other Santa, adhere the reindeer with Dimensionals.
Extra step: I stamped an additional Santa on Vanilla and cut out only the head (down to and including the mustache) and adhere it with Dimensionals.

Day of Gratitude Thanksgiving Card

This lovely and simple Thanksgiving card is made from one of the many ‘Day of Gratitude’ stamp sets that have fallen in my lap this month.

Not only is this a ‘must have’ limited edition set from the Holiday Mini Catalog, but I’ve been to two Stampin’ Up! Regionals and that was the stamp set we got (hmmm… can you say ‘door prize’ set?).

Easy combination of Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper (Holiday Mini Catalog, Page 13, Item No. #120808), a strip of Cajun Craze, embossed with the Sizzix ‘Square Lattice Embossing Folder’ for texture and simple stamping.

Growing Green

I’m taking a moment out to bring you one more summer card (as fall quickly approaches…)

The ‘Growing Green’ set is one of the new floral sets from Stampin’ Up! this year. The clean, simple outline design makes it SUPER easy (and fun) to color, and in this case I used the Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi and Pacific Point watercolor crayons and an Aquapainter.

The rose and the smaller flower were stamped on Very Vanilla and then cut out and adhered to the focal layer.

I really, really like the combination of deep greens and vanilla. I took that combination from the ‘Woodland Greens’ designer paper… my natural instinct would have been to go with white, but another benefit of working with the designer papers are the color combinations that really wow!

I’ve included the recipe below with all of the accessories that I’ve used. Today I am getting ready to go to Maryland for Stampin’ Up!’s Regional conference… I look forward to swapping and seeing friends and downline I haven’t seen in a long time! Happy stamping to you!

Don’t you just love the Vintage look of this card!

I used some awesome new accessories such as the designer series paper “Newsprint” (with a cool musical score sheet), new crochet ribbon and Vintage buttons.

To accent the ‘antique look’ I used the new ‘Distressing Essential Kit’ which includes four fabulous ink spot colors (Tea Stain, Charcol, Mahogany and Navy), in this case, applied with sponge daubers.

‘Just Believe’ Natural Inspiration

In honor of my 14 years with Stampin’ Up! this week, I have stolen a card design right out of the beautiful 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog. I don’t know very many better starting points than the awesome ideas in that book.

I did tweak the colors to the ‘Neutrals Collection’– Very Vanilla/Soft Suede & Crumb Cake.

Speaking of which… are you with the new color families yet? If not, you can purchase ‘kits’ that will feature the new packaging and new colors and you fill them in with the colors you have that are still current. Fabulous cost savings to you, CLICK HERE to order the ‘renovation sets’ for your ink pads, markers, pastels, etc.

This card took just a few minutes to make… it was actually tougher to tear that left edge without taking too much off, than it was to make the rest of it.

“Just Believe” is an awesome set of 9 stamps that you will see more of from me for sure.

Cute and Cuddly Baby Card

Do you like these un-traditional colors for a baby card?

I had a plethora of the striped paper left over from the ‘Autumn Traditions’ designer series paper and I am a sucker for stripes and baby cards!

I do love this bear and ‘I’m kind of a BIG DEAL’ stamp really does say it all when it’s your own brat, right? The set is ‘Cute and Cuddly’ (#113682, 6 stamps for $26.95) and includes a ‘Baby Shower’ invitation stamp (which aren’t easy to find anymore).

The flourish stamp is from the awesome ‘Priceless’ set (#115052, 11 stamps for $28.95) which I hope NEVER retires as it has fabulous elements of design including two great flourish stamps.
