Men's Vest CardMen's Vest Card PDF Step-by-Step

Isn’t this adorable?

My husband doesn’t really like nature scenes (deer, wolves, etc.) for Father’s Day cards… he refers to them as ‘road-kill’ cards (niiiiiice… he’s so lucky he still gets one with that attitude!).

Since he dresses up for work (well, he doesn’t wear vests, but he does wear a tie), I think that this is more appropriate.

Father’s Day Dress Shirt Card

Man's Shirt CardI love this truly quick card.

And in anticipation of 1000 requests… I have included a PDF with the recipe and the dimentions and template.  Just quickly though, I used the Manchester Designer Series paper, Twill Tape ribbon, and you can’t tell by the photo, but the collar is Always Artichoke which is the same as the darkest stripe in the shirt.

Man's Shirt Step-by-Step PDF

This is my gift to my wonderful followers for being patient with me for being an inconsistent blogger lately.

I am very excited to be a presenter at Josee Smuck’s Stamping Girls Convention in Ottowa, Canada starting tomorow.  I’m a bit nervous as well and am hoping to impress!

Man's Shirt top view

As you can see by the detail shot (below) the top of the card is cut so that the collar doesn’t go above the standard sized card/envelope.

The knot for the tie is a trick… check out the PDF download for more information!  I have some fabulous Father’s Day & Masculine card ideas coming… when I get home from Canada!

For Father “Rustic” Card

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Well, I’m aware that this card is suspiciously like my Spring Song card, but I do like the color combination and the look of this type of card.

For Father, Stampin' Up! Set

The card is River Rock with the Weathered background stamp in Close to Cocoa.

The image from the "For Father" set is a toolkit stamped in Staz-On and colored with Stampin’ Write Markers of the following colors: Creamy Caramel, Sahara Sand, Mellow Moss & More Mustard.

The layers behind the focal image are torn pieces of Chocolate Chip cardstock and a torn piece of Creamy Caramel cardstock (crimped).

Sponging helps the ‘rustic’ look.   How’d I do?

Lovely as a Snowy Tree

Lovely as a snowy tree…

side view of foldsI absolutely love this card!

I got the inspiration for this card in Chicago this past weekend from a card that I received from Mary Robin Nowack and this is one of the cards that will be featured at my ‘Stamp a Stack’ of stuff tomorrow evening (repeated Friday morning)!  See my online Calendar for all the information… Mary’s card was done with Vanilla crafter’s ink and Vanilla coordinating cardstock but of course… whdetail of ’snow’ere is my Vanilla pad??!!!(grrrr…).  The green is Always Artichoke and while I used Basic Brown ink, I used Chocolate Chip cardstock.  Of course my perennial favorite ‘Lovely as a Tree’ is the main set. Anyhow,  I made do with white crafter’s ink which is more ‘snowy’ looking, so I added the tiny ‘crescents’ of white on the branches of the tree with the edge of the sponge dauber (okay, okay… so I dropped the dauber the first time and it looked like snow on a branch LOL!). So, while Thomas Kinkade (the artist "painter of light") won’t be getting nervous about competition, I was pleased with the result.  I added light glitter after photographing (as glitter doesn’t photograph well–well, for me anyway). The side fold is one of my favorite ways to do a card and you can see that I used the Weathered background stamp and sponged more brown on the edges of the card to add to the ‘weathered’ wooden appearance.  I haven’t decided on the greeting and while it is winter, it is such a peaceful card, it can be really used for any occasion and is definately appropriate as a masculine card… So, how did I do?  **Remember my customer challenge for feedback on my blog–win free product!**

Accordion Card – Father’s Day

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Accordion CardThis is the Accordion card that I made my husband last year for Father’s Day.  The papers used are called “Weathered” from Stampin’ Up!’s “Timeworn Collection” of background papers.  They are different wood grain textured papers that are *very* realistic!

The “card” itself is a 12 x12 sheet scored in half to make it 6 inches high and scored at 3 inch intervals for 4 panels.  The link to my project gallery for this project in more detail is here.

Accordion Card (plain)What I did for the one I made for my husband (top) is have each panel feature one child, three photos total each child… the two on the front of the panel are of them at approx. 2 years old and then 5 years old and then current age on the pull out bookmark.  They each wrote a message to their dad on the back of the bookmark.

We made one for our Grads & Dads class this month (see second sample).  It was a bit plainer to allow for more journaling.

Au Chocolat Father’s Day Card

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Au ChocolatOkay, this definately lacks a WOW factor, but it is a quick use of the Designer Series papers “Au Chocolat” for my Grads & Dads themed Stamp a Stack of Stuff class this month.

I am not a dots and stripes person, but I absolutely love the paisleys and other “flourish” style designs on this “Chocolate Chip” and Vanilla printed papers.

So, the card is half decorative paper and the other half (on the vanilla) is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and colored very lightly with Creamy Caramel ink.

It definately needed a larger/different embellishment than the simple use of a hodgepodge hardware shown with some taupe grosgrain but my mind was blank at the time.

I had tried to sponge the edges but it looked better “clean” (take my word on that).
