The tree and deer silhouettes are separate stamps and were stamped in black and the sky was sponged (using a sponge dauber) with a *tiny* bit of the following colors (from the top down):  Bashful Blue, Barely Banana, Blush Blossom & Mellow Moss.  How easy is that?!

The designer series paper is ‘Prestwick’ (from the Fall/Winter 2008 catalog) is the exact same patterns (different colors) as the current (and retiring next week) Manchester DSP.  Love those plaids!

I have included my ‘quick card’ template for making a super-fast card with Designer Series Papers.

The dimentions are as follows:   standard sized card turned ‘landscape’ , the bottom layer is 4×4, the next layer is 4 x 3 1/2, the top (focal stamped image) is 3 x 3 1/4.

Okay, so what are you waiting for?  You know this won’t be Tony’s card (he’d say ‘another roadkill card’ remember?)

The box is small, but good things sometimes do come in small packages!

My husband doesn’t really like nature scenes (deer, wolves, etc.) for Father’s Day cards… he refers to them as ‘road-kill’ cards (niiiiiice… he’s so lucky he still gets one with that attitude!).

Since he dresses up for work (well, he doesn’t wear vests, but he does wear a tie), I think that this is more appropriate.

And in anticipation of 1000 requests… I have included a PDF with the recipe and the dimentions and template.  Just quickly though, I used the Manchester Designer Series paper, Twill Tape ribbon, and you can’t tell by the photo, but the collar is Always Artichoke which is the same as the darkest stripe in the shirt.

 The card is River Rock with the Weathered background stamp in Close to Cocoa.

The image from the "For Father" set is a toolkit stamped in Staz-On and colored with Stampin’ Write Markers of the following colors: Creamy Caramel, Sahara Sand, Mellow Moss & More Mustard.

The layers behind the focal image are torn pieces of Chocolate Chip cardstock and a torn piece of Creamy Caramel cardstock (crimped).

Sponging helps the ‘rustic’ look.   How’d I do?

This combination of the "Wanted" set and the greeting from "Dad’s Day" makes an excellent Father’s Day card.

Recipie:

Sets: Wanted, Dad’s Day, Canvas Background
Inks: Close to Cocoa, Soft Sky
Paper: Soft Sky, "Afternoon Tea" designer series paper and Whisper White cardstock
Accessories:  Hodgepodge Hardware, Chocolate Chip grosgrain and Choc. Chip wide grosgrain, sponge dauber.

The “card” itself is a 12 x12 sheet scored in half to make it 6 inches high and scored at 3 inch intervals for 4 panels.  The link to my project gallery for this project in more detail is here.

What I did for the one I made for my husband (top) is have each panel feature one child, three photos total each child… the two on the front of the panel are of them at approx. 2 years old and then 5 years old and then current age on the pull out bookmark.  They each wrote a message to their dad on the back of the bookmark.

We made one for our Grads & Dads class this month (see second sample).  It was a bit plainer to allow for more journaling.

 I am not a dots and stripes person, but I absolutely love the paisleys and other “flourish” style designs on this “Chocolate Chip” and Vanilla printed papers.

So, the card is half decorative paper and the other half (on the vanilla) is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and colored very lightly with Creamy Caramel ink.

It definately needed a larger/different embellishment than the simple use of a hodgepodge hardware shown with some taupe grosgrain but my mind was blank at the time. 

I had tried to sponge the edges but it looked better “clean” (take my word on that). 

I saw this idea done in a recent magazine and got to thinking that our “Sentimental Journey” Designer Series papers fit PERFECTLY into little “shirts”.

The neck was “notched” out at the top, the collar is two rectangles, the tie is the oval punch and a 1 1/4 inch strip of decorative paper cut at the top and Hodgepodge Hardware completed the look.

This month will feature Dads & Grads (or masculine cards for those whose Dads are no longer with us).  My dad passed away September 2004 and I can’t bring myself to “delete” his birthday from my electronic daytimer, makes me a bit sad for the “reminders” two weeks and then one week before, show up, but it is actually harder to just hit “delete”.  So, I designed a nice card and well, dad… this one’s for you!
