Very Punny “Envelope Trick”
Posted: Wednesday, January 10th, 2007 | Comments
As I get ready to leave for Leadership tomorrow morning early, I am uploading my last entry until I come back on Sunday. I hope that Houston weather holds out and we get warm & sun (I dislike cold weather!)
This is what I lovingly refer to as a “cheap envelope trick” done with the SAB set “Very Punny”. The inside of this half sheet (cut 11 x 4 1/4 scored and folded) is two envelopes (office sized #10). This is one of my hostess gifts this month.
I love the new notecards (pg. 21)–what a cute idea to shut with a little slit! I didn’t realize until I got them that they had a flap and self closed. Someone at a workshop the other night told me that she makes jewelry and will use them to enclose her jewelry to sell! What a cute enclosure for a piece of costume jewelry as a gift for a little girl for Valentine’s day.
You can see other types of enclosures I have made with this “template” on my website “Project Gallery“

Delight In Life

I really love this set and I must admit that I got the inspiration from Splitcoast.
The flowers were stamped in black and the colors are Bashful Blue, Mellow Moss & Pretty in Pink and So Saffron. You can’t tell, but it is stamped on glossy white and my “faux paper tolling” was done with Dimensionals.
I used black as an accent color as it really makes the color pop. The colors don’t really show in this scan unfortunately… you’ve got to take my word for it!
The tag was done with the Tag Punch & Mini Tag Punch… I’m not sure how I lived without them!
I am looking forward to getting all my SAB swaps back and post the best ones.

Faux Sealing Wax Technique
Posted: Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007 | CommentsHappy New Year! I should be getting better ready for Leadership and making Sell-A-Bration samples but I wanted to share these holiday WOW cards I made last month.
The focal image is actually hot glue (see my tutorial here). While it is still warm you dust it with Pearl Ex powders… it’s too cool! Unlike real sealing wax it is fast, doesn’t require a heat source and it isn’t brittle. You can reheat it with a heat tool to “correct” the image also!
The backgrounds are done with the direct-to-paper technique (see my tutorial here). I touched up the finished card with some rhinestones (gotta have glitter) and any remaining moisture from the crafter’s inks with Hologram Highlights embossing powder.
The sets are Snowflakes, Alphabet Stew (“Merry & Bright”) and Many Merry Messages (“Seasons Greetings”) which is a new holiday greeting set this year. The Zig silver/gold painty pen touched up around the snowflakes (taking a photo on a slant catches more of the glitz!) and you can see the Hologram Highlights embossing powder.
