Snowman Soup

Posted: Monday, November 20th, 2006 | Comments (9)

This is an idea I got years ago when I received an "envelope book" in a swap.  I wanted to see more ideas with this style of book, so I had a contest and in it, I got a "snowman soup" entry from that I just LOVED from a Debbie Fisher that I shamelessly CASE’d. I am sharing the photo as well as the Word Documents that have all of the writing that you see on it. Click here for the "main poem" on the front. Click here for the words on the inside. To see my original contest and the inspiration, click here. Snowman Soup I pull this out every other year and "recycle" the idea to new friends and customers and it is always well received! The snowman is from Holiday Tag Team and the other sets are Snowflakes and the square stamp set eludes me (we have a few sets with that stamp and I am being lazy!).

Perennial Friendship – Winter Mini Preview

Posted: Thursday, November 16th, 2006 | Comments (4)

I am diligently working on designing a swap for Amanda C’s Winter Mini swap. This is “Perennial Friendship” which would not have been my first choice but it is growing on me! I embossed the tulips in detail white embossing powder on vellum and colored with markers on the back before layering it back onto white cardstock. The decorative paper is the phenomenal new “Enchante” papers that will be available December 1st in the new Winter Mini Catalog.

My color scheme is Perfect Plum and Sage Shadow, the markers I used were Perfect Plum, Sage and Garden Green. I blurred the marker with a blender pen to make the white embossed edges stand out (remember, all coloring was done on the back of the vellum). Wet vellum wrinkles so I used my glue stick to glue it down to a white rectangle the exact side of the vellum (2 inches by 3 inches). Okay, so how’d I do?!

Waiting for Santa

Well, I got this idea for the front closing by the back panel "wrapping" around to the front and closing with Velcro from my friend Sue who showed me this GREAT paper bag book that she made. Well, I have trouble with the folding and the general logistics of paper bags, so I wimped out and went with folded envelopes–it’s only two #10 envelopes inside. The "cover" is an 8 1/2 by 11 Cranberry Crisp paper cut 4 1/4 x 11 and scored (see more details about the creation of this in my Gallery).
